Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church began in 1876 in its current location on 3411 Spring Creek Road in Montevallo, Alabama. We base our beliefs on the Bible, God’s Holy, inerrant and unchanging Word. We offer many activities to all ages and we welcome you and your family and friends to join us in them. Spring Creek Church is about “living and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ” — our purpose statement!
How do we live out and share with others this Good News? From John 3:16 we see 3 aspects of the Gospel/Good News:
1. LOVE – “God is Love” (1 John 4:8) God shares His incredible, unconditional, powerful love with us. As It says, “For God so loved the world.”
First, we receive God’s love for us.
Then we give – We love God and we love others. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39.
2. FAITH – We believe, have faith, in God and His promises. We are called to be believers, not doubters. This is an active faith. “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2:Cor – 4:7)
We believe Jesus is the Son of God who lived a sinless life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, was gloriously resurrected and is alive forevermore! We follow God’s revelation, the Bible, in how to live and how to please God. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
We live this faith and we share it with others.
3. LIFE – God is Life – “I am the way, the truth, and life” (John 14:6). We were dead, separated from God because of our sins, but through Jesus Christ, He made us alive! (see Ephesians 2:1-6)
Everlasting Life – eternal life now and for all eternity! That’s quantity!
Abundant Life – Jesus said that He came to give us life more abundant (John 10:10). When we follow Jesus and His ways, we live a life of purpose, meaning, joy, and one that gives God glory. That’s quality!
We see this good news, this love, faith, and life lived out and shared with others through all the things we do and say as a church: Prayer, Worship, Learning (Christian Ed), Fellowship, Service, Evangelism (Acts 2:42-47).
It is indeed a privilege and joy to live out and share this glorious Good News with you, the Spring Creek Church family, on a daily basis. God is blessing us beyond measure and it is exciting to consider what He will do in our midst in the future.
